Next race Sunday 2nd December 2012 11am Beinn Lora rises up from the Moss of Achnacree at the mouth of Loch Etive. Its coastal location means the views from the summit are magnificent. The race route leads runners up the stony path giving glimpses of the Firth of Lorn and beyond. As the runners gain altitude the character of the race changes with a dash round a weedy lochan then out of the trees at a deer fence and on to the hill itself. A sharp descent before crossing the infamous bog and the final pull up to the summit trig point. Then its all about the descent (and the re-ascent to the deer fence). It's fast, care is required!! Runners will be directed to the finish down a different path which crosses the line on the flat giving way to possibly a sprint finish. It's a fun race but as it's held in November the weather conditions from the deer fence to the summit can be fairly brutal so runners must be equipped with full body cover either to be carried or worn. |
